Assume that G is a finite group, say G = {g1, . . . , gn}, and write c for the element $$\sum_{i=1}^{n}g_{i}$$, of $$\mathbb{C}G$$ .

(a) Prove that ch= hc = c for all h in G.

(b) Deduce that c² = |G|c.

(c) Let $$\varphi: \mathbb{C}G\to \mathbb{C}G$$ be the linear transformation sending $$v$$ to $$vc$$, for all $$v$$ in $$\mathbb{C}G$$. What is the matrix $$[\varphi]_{\beta}$$, where β is the basis {g1, . . . , gn} of $$\mathbb{C}G$$?

Solução:

a) Dados $$h,g_{i}\in G$$, é fato que $$hg_{i}=g_{j}$$, para algum $$g_{j}\in G$$, uma vez que o grupo é finito e tem todos os seus elementos listados. Assim, multiplicando

\[hc = \sum^{n}_{i}hg_{i}=\sum_{j=1}^{n}g_{j}=c.\]

O mesmo valerá para $$ch$$.

b) Observe que $$c^{2}=\sum_{i,j}g_{i}g_{j}$$. Podemos reescrever, usando a associatividade do produto:

\[c^{2}=\sum_{j=1}(\sum_{i=1}g_{i})g_{j}=\]

\[\sum_{j=1}cg_{j}=\sum_{j=1}c=nc = |G|c.\]

c) Seja $$[v]_{\beta}=(a_{1},…,a_{n})^{T}$$. Observamos que

\[cv = \sum_{j}\sum_{i}g_{i}a_{j}g_{j}=sum_{j}a_{j}(\sum_{i}g_{i})g_{j}=\]

\[\sum_{j}a_{j}cg_{j}=\sum_{j}a_{j}c.\]

Esta última soma equivale a $$(a_{1}+…+a_{n})g_{1}+…+(a_{1}+…+a_{n})g_{n}$$, então temos a transformação linear que relaciona as coordenadas do seguinte modo:

\[[v]_{\beta}\mapsto [\varphi]_{\beta}[v]_{b}=(a_{1}+…+a_{n},…,a_{1}+…+a_{n})^{T}.\]

No segundo caso, para todo $$h\in H, x^{-1}xhx^{-1}\in H$$, o que implicaria $$hx^{-1}\in H$$, portanto $$x\in H$$, o que é um absurdo.

Se $$g\in G-H$$, então $$g\in xH$$, ou seja: existe $$h\in H$$ tal que $$g=xh$$, logo $$gHg^{-1} = (xh)H(h^{-1}x^{-1})=xHx^{-1}=H$$. O que finaliza a demonstração.

Sejam $$N$$ e $$M$$ subgrupos normais de $$G$$. Se $$N\cap M =\{1_{G}\}$$, então $$mn=nm$$, para quaisquer $$n\in N$$ e $$m\in M$$.

Solução:

Como $$N$$ é normal, pode-se escrever $$n=mxm^{-1}$$, para $$x\in N$$, o que implica $$nm=mxm^{-1}m = mx (*)$$.

Dado que $$M$$ também é normal, existe $$y\in M$$ tal que $$m=nyn^{-1}$$. A equação $$(*)$$ torna-se $$nm = mx = nyn^{-1}x$$, que implica $$m = yn^{-1}$$ e, portanto, $$my^{-1}=n^{-1}x$$. Observamos que $$my^{-1}\in M$$ e que $$n^{-1}x\in N$$.

Assim, temos $$my^{-1}=1_{G}\Longrightarrow m = y$$ e $$n^{-1}x=1_{G}\Longrightarrow n = x$$.

Daqui, $$nm=mx = mn$$.

2) É um homomorfismo de grupos. De fato, tomando $$x,y\in G$$, temos
